Musician/Composer/Educator/Artist Chris Murphy has been living a life of music, art and creativity for 30 years. Enjoying his 24th year as a professional performing, recording and touring musician and his 16th as a respected teacher, educator and counselor, Chris has traveled many roads on his artistic journey.
A celebrated Violinist , Mandolinist and Guitarist , Chris has been performing and studying Folk, Jazz, Classical and World music since 1983. A noted composer as well, Chris has 13 albums of original music in many styles including Rock, Bluegrass, Swing, Electronic, Classical, Blues, Irish and Ethnic music ….
Born and raised in the culturally rich Hudson Valley Of New York in the Town of Pearl River, Chris’ education includes a High School diploma from the private arts academy The Oakwood School, an Associates Degree in English Literature from Bard College At Simon’s Rock and a Bachelor Of Music Degree from New England Conservatory Of Music. In addition, Chris has spent hundreds of hours studying privately with some of the most respected music teachers in the U.S.
Chris has lived, worked and studied in NYC, Boston, Seattle, Portland, and his current home of Los Angeles. He performs frequently with his many bands (that include some of Los Angeles’ most interesting and historical musicians) all over southern California , and is founder of the eclectic music booking agency www.theteahousecompany.com.
