Hello! My name is Robert, and I am a lifelong science student and teacher. I have a strong life sciences and chemistry focus, with several years of teaching in public schools, one year of tutoring college chemistry, and one year of teaching freshmen biology lab. I did my graduate research at the largest Organic Research University farm in the Eastern U.S. at West Virginia University. There I published an ecological research paper on my study of the pathogenic relationship amongst Colletotrichum spp. Organic Tomatoes, and Brown Marmorated Stink Bug.
While I have a strong interest in ecology and microbiology, I also have completed Calculus II as well as Physics II for Engineers, and have experience in teaching these subjects at the high school level. I currently do in person tutoring sessions for inorganic, organic, and basics of chemistry for college students for a separate tutoring agency, and have done so for the past year. I passed Organic Chemistry with an A and Biochemistry with a B, both the first time because I know what study strategies it takes to succeed in academia. This is also evidenced by my 3.7 gpa in both graduate and undergraduate classes.
I also have experience with grant writing, as well as writing research papers. I know what goes into the evaluation of writing, and can provide essential feedback on how to write clearly and intelligibly. If you are having trouble with reading and understanding primary source material in biology or chemistry, I can aid in demystifying the language that goes into research papers written for scientific journals and interpret formatting that is often found confusing to students.
