The COOP stands for the "Cooperative Admissions Examination Program" and it is used for entrance into many private Catholic schools. The HSPT stands for the "High School Placement Test" which is used to determine admissions, scholarship selections, and class placement. Both tests are similar and extremely important. If you are shooting for your child to get into a great high school, they will likely have to take one of these two tests to determine their ability to succeed in high achieving schools. The best way to secure admission is by hiring a COOP/HSPT tutor who specializes in these exams and making students stand out to admissions officers. Many parents don't hire a tutor for this exam and think their children are prepared enough to handle it on their own. A select few parents have their children work with professionals to prepare and those are the few that are accepted into the top high schools.
