About Jessica

I am absolutely available for tutoring! I have a great deal of experience tutoring adults and children. I have been tutoring since 2000. I have a Masters from Purdue University. I am currently working toward a second Masters in Education. I have undergraduate degrees in Psychology, Sociology, & English from Texas A&M University.

I teach many subjects, including the core subjects: English, Science, Math, & Social Studies. I like to create games to play that reinforce the concepts I am teaching. I also teach kinder readiness, strategies for overcoming test anxiety, and study skills. At the college level, I teach research strategy and writing skills, study skills & organization, Psychology, Sociology, Applied Behavior Analysis, and others. I also assist college students with research and the process of writing essays.

I provide engaging and comprehensive lessons for test prep: the ISEE, SSAT, HSPT, IOWA, PSAT, SAT, ACT, GED, STAAR, State Standards Testing, and other professional certifications. I also assist students as they prepare for military testing to further their careers in the military: the ASVAB, AFQT, AFOQT, & OAR exams.

Reading Comprehension, verbal skills, and writing are my specialties. Following an assessment, I target the skill areas needed to promote a steady improvement in a student's performance. For example, improving fluency can result in gains in reading comprehension.
