My name is Karen Elitzky and I have been a Director of College Counseling at independent schools in New York City, San Francisco and San Diego, and (remotely) for an International Boarding school in Japan. I received my BA from Amherst College in Political Science and Psychology and my MA in Educational Psychology from NYU. After beginning my teaching career at a boarding school in Connecticut I moved to San Francisco where I continued to teach and began my career as a college counselor. Over 20 years later, one thing remains the same — I still find great joy in helping students through every step of the college application and admissions process. I particularly love the essay writing process because I love to help students find their voice and create a narrative that makes them stand out. It is so rewarding to hear from admissions representatives how much they loved a student’s essays, how they were able to hear the student's voice, and that their writing was what made the difference. Wherever you are in the process, I will meet you there, and take you across the finish line! Don’t let the process scare you; let me help you find your voice.
