I taught high school English for five years before I moved to higher education, where I support college students in creating an effective balance between their academics and their personal commitments. I've remained active as an online Writing, Literature, and Reading tutor. I strive to make tutoring an engaging and active process for students, and I focus on the specific needs of each learner--Where are you at in the learning process? What helps you comprehend concepts effectively? What have you struggled with the past? What skills do you want to further develop?
From my experience with students, I understand that each individual has unique interests and strengths; it's not a realistic goal to expect all learners to gain motivation or greater interest in their English class. However, as long as learners are open to new approaches to the content, they are capable of improving their understanding and overall skill set.
