My formal education is in engineering: as an undergrad, I double majored in biomedical and mechanical engineering at RIT and I am currently working on my MS in Biomed Eng via Johns Hopkins online.
Outside of engineering I love working within the education field! I have tutored privately since 2015. As a tutor I have worked with student in 5th grade through freshmen year of college. My primary subjects include: Science: chemistry, physics, and general elementary/middle school science
Math: fundamentals (multiplication/addition), Algebra 1+2, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, differential equations, etc.
I have also worked as a study skills/homework coach for multiple middle schoolers.
My personal educational philosophy is that understanding and mastering the basics is the most critical portion of learning a subject. From there I enjoy incorporating examples of real life applications of the concepts students are learning and finding fun activities to supplement normal class work with. It is essential to the students success to find which study method works best for them: quizlet, flash cards, online study, book study, verbal discussions, active discussions, etc.
In addition to my formal tutoring background I have experience developing STEM programming for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. I have worked with multiple camps, troops, and individuals to provide fun and engaging STEM based activities!
