I have a doctorate in English Literature and ten years of experience teaching college English courses. I’ve taken time off teaching to be with my 5 and 3 year old, so I love to tutor because it lets me stay connected with the best part of teaching—interacting with students and helping them reach their goals.
In addition to my academic background, I have a lot of experience working with college admission tests and essay writing. I worked with College Board both as a grader for the AP Literature Essay for 6 years and as a grader for the SAT Essay for 2 years. Since then, I’ve been hired by numerous companies, including the Princeton Review, to write SAT Practice Tests for the Reading and Writing sections.
Nothing beats working with students, though! I learned as a tutor in the St. Louis University Writing Center how to coach writers (and test-takers) to take ownership of their work and their ideas by giving them the tools they need to succeed.
As a published creative and academic author, I’m available as a tutor for all kinds of writing, high-school and college level and beyond.
