About Nathalie

I have tutored students in math from the elementary level to precalculus. I've also tutored students in standardized test prep (SAT, ACT, SAT subject tests, PSAT, SSAT, ISEE, etc.) and reading/writing (from students in preschool up to high school students applying to college). I have worked with special needs students and am trained in techniques for teaching students with ADD and ADHD or students on the Autism spectrum. I have a specialty in working on college application essays and can guide students from the brainstorming process through to the final edits to perfect their essays. I have a vast knowledge of literature, theater and the arts, so I particularly love tutoring in those areas. For standardized testing, I have lists of specific strategies that I teach all my students to help them play the test as a game. Once I’ve finished teaching these strategies, I move on to crafting a unique test preparation curriculum based on the student’s particular needs and performance.

I’ve worked with various tutoring and teaching companies in New York including Tutor Associates, EBL Coaching, NORY, Curated Care, Smart Alec, and Guo Consulting. I graduated from Princeton in 2016 with a degree in English. I earned top prizes from the English department, theater department and gender studies department for my thesis work in my senior year. Since then, I have been living in New York and teaching while working on my artistic practice in theater. I have acted in various productions and have also written, produced and performed three productions of two of my own original plays. I see my theater work and my teaching work as intrinsically connected. I am especially passionate about teaching writing to students, but, even when I am teaching math, I love being able to work one-on-one with students and discern their particular learning styles. I can then figure out how to teach them in the most effective way. This interpersonal understanding is something that I bring to teaching from my theater work.

If you have more questions about me, please feel free to get in contact. I am happy to explain more about my experience and teaching philosophy.
