I am a graduate of New York University. I received my Philosophy of Doctorate in Political Science with a focus on quantitative politics and political economy. My thesis has been published in the prominent political economy journal Public Choice in September 2013 . At NYU, I worked both as a research and teaching assistant (TA). In particular, I worked as the TA for the math class for the PhD students and the Head TA for the game theory based international relations core course for undergraduates. Prior to my graduate studies, I had completed my Masters of Arts in Economics as a Fulbright Fellow at Stanford University- where I also worked as a teaching assistant for intermediate level micro-economics for undergraduates- and my Bachelors of Arts in Economics at Bosphorus University of my native country, While I worked as a TA for a range of courses at NYU, I have always been most passionate about mathematics. I love math for its clarity and for all the possibilities it can open to anyone who is versed in this language. I worked as a volunteer Algebra 1 teacher at Baltimore Teaching Residency in Summer 2017. Since Fall 2016, I am working as a math tutor for elementary and mid school students. I believe having strong math skills and a strong foundation is very important for a student's success at more advanced level math classes and test preparation that comes further down the road. As the pace of math learning at school is steep, many students may find themselves lagging. I strongly believe, intervention to help students get stronger in their math skills at this critical stage is very important. I worked for several elementary and mid school students both at HeyTutor and other tutoring sites successfully. In particular, last summer I worked with a 13 year old - whom I met on another tutoring platform- daily getting him ready for high school - working on "Algebra- Structure and method- Book 1" and received excellent review from family and can share upon request. For further details, please ask me. From the same job site, I am also now working with another HS junior student (Xavier HS) for Algebra 2- following Prentice Hall Algebra 2 textbook and have received very favorable comments from the family. I also work as a SAT Varsity Tutor and am very comfortable with the 10 official published tests and can help you, in particular, with the SAT -Math. My class price is $25/hr for elementary and mid school classes and $35 for Algebra 1&2 and SAT Math. I am flexible with my time and may match your schedule, and willing to negotiate my class price- in particular for more than an hour/week or above 60 min classes . In my spare time, I enjoy walking in the city, cooking, yoga and find tranquility in the beautiful churches of our wonderful city. I look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals. Thank you.
