I teach at Columbia University, in both the graduate School of the Arts and the School of Journalism. I also attended undergrad at Columbia, majoring in Urban Studies, focusing on the history and sociology of urban areas. A native New Yorker, I attended elite, highly-selective primary and secondary schools, and am well aware of the pressure many students face on standardized tests. As a tutor, I aim to help students reach not just their potential for a high numerical score or a better grade, but on developing students' learning and critical thinking skills in way which will help students throughout their academic and intellectual careers. Outside of my teaching life, I am an award-winning, critically-acclaimed filmmaker.
