I did my graduate studies in both Education and English, Comparative Literature, and Theatre at the University of Pennsylvania. I am a career-long educator with over ten years of classroom teaching experience (New York State Certification), and have been tutoring almost twice as long. I am passionate about student growth and ownership and hang my hat on my dedication to the Teacher as Learner philosophy. I'm who I am today because of what my students have taught me throughout my twelve years as an educator and teaching artist. Part of my teaching philosophy is rooted in students taking ownership of their learning to master concepts and in turn reflecting on their victories. We are lifelong learners, and as our capacity to surprise ourselves is limitless, its so rewarding for all invested in the learning process to hear students upon mastering a skill say, "Wow, I really did that. I didn't think I could, but I did. I'm really not crazy!" I'm also in the film industry, where I work on both sides of the camera; I have taught filmmaking, and currently enjoy freelancing as a multimedia designer.
