Hi! My name is Ashritha and I'm a Research Clinician and Teacher. I have a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology in Education from the Spirituality Mind Body Institute at Teachers College Columbia University in New York City, NY and a Bachelor's in Psychology from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. I specialized in mindfulness based therapy and use mindfulness tools in my teaching practices to promote stress relief and improved learning.
I can also work with students who have ADD/ADHD from my background in clinical psychology. I led group counseling from individuals managing chronic mental illness (e.e.g paranoid schizophrenia, OCD) and am comfortable working with struggling kids/adolescents.
I acquired 8+ years of experience in research and writing education and development. While earning my Master's degree I worked with students one-on-one and in groups at the Graduate Writing Center to advise students on writing development, writing execution, revision, and editing. I advised students on Master's theses, doctoral dissertations, cover letters, resumes, memorandums etc. I also have 8+ years of teaching experience having worked with children of all ages (K-12). I mentored students in an anti-bullying/bullying prevention program in a local Atlanta high school, taught english in underprivileged communities in Costa Rica and Italy, assisted in Kindergarten classrooms in Oxford, GA, and was an assistant dance instructor for 3 years in Atlanta, GA.
I also have 6+ years of research experience. I worked at the Emory University Winship Cancer Institute for 2 years while earning my undergraduate degree, then at TC I worked with the Cross-Cultural Spirituality Lab, and consecutively worked as a Research Scientist with the Columbia University Presbyterian Hospital in association with the New York State Psychiatric Institute.
I will help you develop your academic & writing skills through my experience in education and research and passion for teaching. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions/concerns and I look forward to working with you!
