Servant Leadership is all about finding methods and strategies in adding the quality of life of others more so than you. As an educator, I have found that serving students, the community, and the staff of the school is my vocational calling. Often time, people flounder during their life about the purpose in life. It has been so rewarding to have the opportunity to serve inner city students with many challenges. Teacher as me understands there is much sacrifice, and a willingness to go far and beyond what it takes to educate our students. For instance, another teacher and I saw a great need for a mentoring program for the boys at our elementary school last year. The program is called Boys II Bowties. We mentor and teach the boys to understand the importance of education and being productive citizens in the school, home and the community. The point that hit home personally was to hear the boys express each time they have someone to enter their life, the person was only there for a brief period. In order to make a positive different, consistency is a major factor when it comes to servant leadership (Nolan & Richard, 2015).
