I am currently a 4th grade teacher at an elementary school in the Atlanta Public School District. I enjoy working with children and helping them reach for their dreams through their education and social activities. I believe every child should be valued and treated with respect. In my world, education and empowerment can help him or her make a positive contribution to our world.
I attended the University of Georgia as a double-major in Mass Media Arts and African American Studies, and moved to Atlanta to attend Georgia State University to complete my Master's coursework in Early Childhood Education. I am a Houston native and have been living and teaching elementary grades in the city of Atlanta for the past four years, as well as privately tutoring for the last two. In my time outside of the classroom, I enjoy cooking and being outdoors; hiking, bike (motorcycle) riding, and exercising are my loves! During the summer, I spend a great deal of time traveling, reading, and volunteering in the community.
With over six years of teaching experience in both primary grades, K-2, and secondary grades, 3-5, I am very knowledgeable of the stages in which students need to develop phonics skills to help them succeed in reading and writing.
I want to help the students I work with as much as possible and I am always open to resources and suggestions from students and parents. Please contact me through the portal at any time and I will always provide quick responses. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson!
