About Brian

Hi there! I'm Brian, a Korean-American and recent Harvard University graduate with 5 years of tutoring experience. I specialize in ESL, English language and essay writing, including AP Psychology and AP History. I tutor test prep skills for standardized tests such as the SAT/ACT, TOEFL, and SSAT/ISEE, and offer consultations for college admissions. I tutor students of all ages from K-12 to college. I graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor’s degree (Cum Laude) in Psychology with additional tutoring experience at Stanford, the University of Chicago, and Columbia. I currently research at the University of Southern California.

When I was in college, I enjoyed learning how to communicate with students and tutor them in a variety of different subjects and test preparation skills. At Harvard, I learned from the best professors and absorbed many different, yet effective teaching styles. Three years of tutoring experience gave me the perspective needed to understand the needs of different students. I tutored both one-on-one sessions and small group settings. For example, I worked directly with students teaching them English and test preparation skills while at Harvard University. I also held tutoring sessions for groups as large as 15 people while I was at Columbia University in the City of New York. In addition, I taught students how to write papers, conduct research, and program computers while I was a researcher at Harvard, Stanford, and Columbia.

Over the years, I have gained a lot of experience working with academics and know that learning to properly speak and write English is very important. I am thrilled to use my knowledge and experience here so I can help a student succeed. I like to tailor my tutoring services by not only working with the student but listening to the parent and providing constructive feedback. In order for a student to thrive, it is important to work directly with all those involved to keep them engaged and ensure their success.

Thank you again for your interest! Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
