Greetings! My name is Jamie, and I have taught students of all ages, mostly K-5, in subjects ranging from SAT analogies to yogic breathing techniques. My specialities include reading comprehension, grammar, and writing. As a clinical intern, I often worked to support children struggling both academically and socially, and my pedagogical philosophies are deeply informed by those experiences. I see teaching as a collaborative, holistic process tailored to individual learning styles, needs and aptitudes, and psychological development. Confidence is often the largest barrier when students are grappling with unfamiliar or challenging material. I believe that providing the right encouragement can really boost feelings of self-efficacy and foster renewed excitement about learning. In my spare time, I enjoy practicing yoga, playing around on the drums, strengthening culinary muscles, and reading science fiction novels.
