About Matt

I have a B.A. in English from Texas Lutheran University, and my level of proficiency is at the EXPERT level in: reading, writing, grammar, spelling, constructing an essay, et al., literally all things that have to do with the English language. If you need help reading with anything involving reading or writing, I'm your man. Best of all, I'm endlessly patient and will always congratulate you when you succeed!

I have an M.T.S. (Master's in Theological Studies) from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University, and my specialty is in both religion and philosophy, and with a strong emphasis on history. I am at an EXPERT level in: Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Machiavelli, Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, Hume, Kant, Nietzsche, Marx, Mill, Hayek, Rawls; feminism, moral philosophy, logic/critical thinking, and just about any issue that has to do with philosophy, theology, and ethics.

I have over 10 years teaching experience, and my goal is to help you think critically by learning how to evaluate ALL sides of an argument, including the ones you disagree with!

In addition to this goal, another is to show you how philosophy is the discipline that checks ALL other disciplines, and how the hard work and study you do in philosophy will naturally carry over into all of your other subjects. To study philosophy is to study logic and reasoning themselves at their most basic and fundamental levels, and we use logic and reasoning literally every day.

So let's study together and keep alive the Latin phrase that Immanuel Kant made the slogan of the Enlightenment: "Sapere aude!" ("Dare to know!"}
