Gisel A. Costa is a composer, instructor, and performer.
She has been taking piano lessons since she was three years old. Her piano teacher Frank Segedin emphasized the importance of composing. It is like creating your own painting. She began to compose at the age of 11 as well as performing her compositions.
She also sang the National Anthem for state events. She went to Saint Dominic Academy and joined the Dominoes Choir where they sang and she accompanied the choir in various events. They competed as a choir twice coming back home as first place winners. She has studied with Adam Kent in New Jersey City University and received her Bachelor of Arts in Music. She was in various bands as a keyboardist and lead backup vocalist. She performed in Maxwells, Arlene's Grocery, The Bitter End, National Underground, and other various venues throughout the tri-state area. She also performed a Winter Holiday performance for the children in the Head Start Program for the past few years. She accompanied for Kearny High School. She began teaching piano and vocals privately during her college years. As each lesson went by, she began to fall in love with the aspect of teaching privately and is currently pursuing her passion. She joined the Oratorio Society of New York recently singing Soprano 2 where they performed 2 world premieres "We Are One" by Behzad Ranjbaran and "Sanctuary Road" collaboration between composer Paul Moravec and librettist Mark Campbell under conductor Kent Tritle in Carnegie Hall for their 145th season.
She is also an author, illustrator, and app developer for her music history story The Eras The Baroque Story. It can be found on Amazon and App Store.
