There is no "normal" way to learn, and I hope to work with students to help them reach ... See more

The ACT is an entrance exam that is used by most colleges and universities to decide who gets in and who does not. The score is one of the biggest influences toward deciding what colleges your child will be accepted into. Some colleges will not even look at your child’s application if they do not have a certain score on this test. With years of experience helping students increase their scores our ACT reading tutors have come to realize that at least 80% of students struggle with the amount of reading and content that is involved with this test. The two main types of ACT reading questions include referring questions and reasoning questions. If your child doesn’t understand this they will find themselves struggling with this part of the exam, although it is manageable with the right tutelage from an ACT tutor.
Even the students who have the best grades in class still need the help of ACT reading tutoring to get familiar with the test. It only makes sense to practice with a one-on-one ACT reading tutor if your child is trying to get above average scores on the test. This isn’t a test that they should just walk into blind, like any other exam they need to prepare themselves. Without the proper guidance of a private ACT reading tutor, even the top performing students will be stumped on what the test is requiring of them.
The ACT is an incredibly important assessment of your child’s ability to handle the coursework once they start taking college classes. It is proven to work which is why it is used by the majority of colleges in America. Because of this, your child’s dream school is more than likely on the list of schools that require them to take the ACT. This is just one of many obstacles that your child will have to jump over on their journey to get their college degree. Our tutors realize this and know that although this test is incredibly important it is not the end all to be all, it is actually the beginning. So they will use this as a time to teach your student how to prep and execute when they have to take this test and ones in the future. When it comes to the reading aspect of the test, your student has to be prepared. They need to be able to look at whatever material is put in front of them and answer a series of questions. If they do not take their time and focus, then they will find that they are not getting through this part of the exam.
How most students get lower scores on the reading is by not being able to answer all of the questions. It seems like it is impossible to read, comprehend and then answer all of the questions regarding the text. It is an overwhelming task, but there are several techniques your child can use to ensure they not only read all of the material but they understand what they are reading and are able to answer the questions correctly. These tips will give them the peace of mind that they have what it takes when the test day shows up. Our tutors have years of experience working with students who have also struggled on this aspect of the ACT. They have sat down with them and gotten the results that the students want to see. That is because the students listened and did the work that was given to them by the tutor. When you find an ACT reading tutor through HeyTutor this is the kind of help your child will be receiving.
Working with the best is the only way to ensure that they are prepared to get their needed score or maybe even go above and beyond. Reading comprehension is something that we use in our daily lives, so these skills will be transferable. Your child will not be taught how to cram, they will be given the tools to make sure they retain the information they are studying. This is perfect for when they get into college because what we have seen is that students cram to get a passing grade on a test. But they are unable to tell you what they have learned a few days or even hours after the exam. This is the least efficient manner of studying and not at all what you want for your child. When they work with one of our tutors, they will be ensuring that they retain what they have learned in regards to ACT reading and then when they start taking their college courses and exams. Your student will thank you later when they see how effective their skills are that they have learned with one of HeyTutor's ACT tutors.

The ACT’s aren’t like the typical in-class exams that your child is used to taking. Because of this, they need to use a different approach. With an experienced “ACT reading tutor near me”, they will be able to help soothe any worries your child may have about this test by making sure they are ready. It is a huge benefit to have guidance during this time, not only for test readiness but also to have somebody who can update you with test dates and registration deadlines. Private tutors can also help set your child up for success on the day of the test. Simple, but unthought of things on the day of the test, like eating healthy, sleeping well, leaving early, and taking the proper documents, can save you and your child a lot of anxiety before the day of the test.
Most things are overlooked when it comes to taking a test such as the ACT, but it requires much more than simply showing up and taking the exam. They have to spend time with the materials so that they are ready to knock it out of the park when it comes time. If they walk in without having prepped at all, they will struggle. Even if they get a solid grade it will not be the best that your child can do. Your child may have taken the test without doing any sort of ACT prep just to see how they would do. And they did well in all of the other categories except for reading because they were not as prepared. That it is because a regular high school class is not enough to get ready for the reading section of the test. Your child is going to have to work with ACT reading materials because of how unique it is to anything they are currently doing in class. So at this moment, you realize the benefit of working with “ACT reading tutoring near me.”
One of the best things about learning in one of our ACT tutoring sessions as opposed to going to a group class is the fact that our tutors will focus on your weakness. Which is obviously the reading section so this is what the tutor will work on with them during every session. There is no better feeling than walking away with from every meeting with their tutor and feeling more confident in their ability. This will carry over to test day, so when it does arrive your child is completely ready to do their best work. Working with one of our tutors is the best way for your child to be in the best mindset before the test. That is because when they are able to sit down with a one-on-one ACT reading tutor they will be learning proven techniques that have worked for years. However, they will be able to apply these techniques in a way that works for them.
