I've been tutoring and teaching students of all ages and abilities, nationally and internationally, for six years. I hold a BA in Film, Television, and Theater from the University of Notre Dame; while pursuing my undergraduate degree I spent a year in Ireland studying Medieval History, Theater, and Literature at Trinity College Dublin, gaining a global grasp on those subjects.
I hold an MFA in poetry from the Iowa Writers' Workshop, where I volunteered at the Iowa Youth Writing Project and designed and taught two freestanding poetry/workshop classes at the University of Iowa. This included working one-on-one with those of my students who sought further academic support in weekly office hours. I have written digital narrative content for Cut Media in Seattle ("How-to Human," Comcast Watchable) and I currently serve as an editorial assistant in non-fiction for The Iowa Review.
I specialize in all sorts of writing—academic essays for all subjects, creative works, manuscripts, screenplays, etc.—and believe in a flexible, mentorship-focused approach to teaching all subjects. Any student who "doesn't get it” often hasn't been communicated to in the right ways. Everyone can learn. As both writer and editor, I take it upon myself to find new ways of conveying the information and imparting my accrued knowledge so that each student can learn in ways most natural and effective for them, while helping them strengthen their overall academic and executive functioning skills.
