I absolutely love helping people understand math better. I have been tutoring math since my sophomore year at Virginia Tech--eons ago.
I have been a 'numbers person' all my life. I enjoyed math as a kid. I majored in electrical engineering in college. I enjoyed tutoring college math, engineering, and calculus during my days at Virginia Tech. After graduation, I worked as an engineer for a few years before returning to school. I have been teaching middle school and high school math for over ten years. I focus on students enjoying math along with learning.
I realize students all learn by different styles and at different paces. I consider the student’s personality and their specific needs. I also have discovered that being patient is extremely important as a tutor; students need to feel emotionally safe in order to learn.
I homeschooled my own children through high school. This experience taught me ... See more

I was inspired to teach by my own experiences in the class room, in particular by my math and English teachers. Above all, they treated me as an individual, encouraging me to achieve my personal best. In math, my teachers enthusiasm and commitment motivated me to work hard, and I hope to turn this around and share this with others.
Math and English are fun-damental! I never really enjoyed them as a grade-school student, but I learned the key as a freshman at Longwood University. Now I'm infatuated! I promise we can get you there too.
My first experience tutoring came while attending the University of Southern California in 2005. There, I assisted fellow classmates in preparing for upcoming exams and found great reward in helping others gain confidence in their academics abilities. After graduation, I was presented with the opportunity to join a network of USC alumni providing tutoring services to the surrounding community. Through this network, I began tutoring elementary and middle school students in their homes, gaining more subject experience and acquiring a ... See more

One of the great sons of Greensboro was the great writer, William Sydney Porter. Better known as O. Henry, Porter’s stories were known for their silly twists that came at the end. The modern day equivalent might be someone like M. Night Shyamalan, Charlie Brooker, or, probably most apt, Jordan Peele. Peele’s reboot of The Twilight Zone is influenced by the original work by Rod Serling, who was himself influenced by O. Henry. It is like a game of telephone that ends with Jordan Peele, who brings a mix of the comedy of O. Henry with the psychological horror of Serling, sprinkled with his own original voice. O. Henry’s stories are things you might recognize, such as The Gift of the Magi, which ends with a woman selling her most valuable possession to buy something for a man, who himself sold his most valuable possession to buy something for her.
I have a story for you about a math student. He never thought of working with geometry tutors in Greensboro. He went on by in class on his own, thinking that his Bs and Cs in the early goings were the result of poor study habits. So instead of a math tutor, he decided to add an hour of study time each week. He picked some problems from the textbook that were not the ones he had to do for homework and decided to do those ones on his own. Then, when he looked at the end of the book, he realized he did not have the answers because they are in the teachers version.
He keeps going, getting the same grades even with the extra work. He still does not know what he is doing wrong, but he wants to keep plugging away on his own. By halfway through the semester, he has a high C in class and does not know what to do. But then, there is a twist. He meets a geometry tutor who tells him that they can work together to find better strategies to succeed.
The student signs up with his Greensboro geometry tutor and the results show very quickly. He has reallocated his extra study hour to the tutor and that has also cut his homework time in half. Back in school, that C climbs higher and higher until it borders an A. The teacher sees his hard work and rounds up. How does that sound, Mr. Shyamalan?

Another of the great sons of Greensboro was Lunsford Richardson, although you might better recognize the name of his brother-in-law, Dr. John Vick. Richardson took over Vick’s retail drug business and began selling Vick’s Family Remedies and Vick’s Magic Croup Salve. Eventually, they rebranded the latter, as the name never really rolled off the tongue. It became Vick’s VapoRub, which is still used today. Now, when I hear this story, Lunsford Richardson sounds a bit like a snake oil salesman. In fact, most snake oil is essentially the same as Vick’s VapoRub. It is only in the way of selling, huckstering consumers with promises of a catch-all cure for an exorbitant price, which became such a problem.
With geometry tutoring in Greensboro, this is definitely not a scam. Honestly, the results of tutoring are fairly subjective. Your grades might provide a quantifiable benchmark, but that does not necessarily mean that you are improving at the rate you want. With our tutors in Greensboro, we want you to feel good about the experience, even if the results are hard to record.
Our Greensboro geometry tutoring has helped many students in the past, which is how we measure it. We are not going to be the catch-all cure to your grade ailments, but we can still help you feel better about your grades.
