I am currently working towards a double major in both Education Studies and Japanese Language and Culture at Washington University in St. Louis, and have 2 years of informal experience with online and in-person tutoring of Drawing techniques and general Art, the Japanese Language, and English.
While I don't currently have much experience with formal education, I have a strong passion for both learning and teaching, and love to share everything that I know with both engaged and attentive learners, and learners that may need a little more of a push or motivation. So far I have used my understanding of psychology and motivation from my education and psychology classes at Wash U, and I'd love to both learn and teach even more while completing my degrees before I head off into a real teaching job!
I currently have 2 years of informal and 2 years of formal high intensity learning with the Japanese Language, and about 10 years of experience with general art and technique, however I would say that I specialize in Drawing, specifically the mediums of pencil, pen, charcoal, and pastel, and I would love to show you my portfolio if interested! As far as English goes, I am studying to become an ESL teacher in Japan, but I don't have much formal ESL experience yet, however, I am currently informally helping fellow college students in Japan with English as they help me with Japanese in a program run by KCJS through Wash U!
While I usually stress both learning and understanding while teaching, I also think it is very important to not have a power imbalance in a clasroom or tutoring environment, and in that sense my teaching style is more casual, informal, and friendly.
