I have over 5 years of tutoring and teaching experience, with students ranging from kindergarten to graduate school. Though I am most experienced with college and adult students, my commitment to and passion for literacy knows no age limits. My service as a Washington Reading Corps member equipped me with the skills to support struggling elementary readers and students of any age working on basic literacy or English-learning, alongside my more in-depth training as a tutor and teacher of college-level writers throughout my undergraduate and graduate education.
I've worked with in community colleges, state schools, and private universities, as well as with private clients. What I love most about tutoring is getting to know my students and watching them learn and grow. It is an honor to be a part of someone else's learning process and to help them overcome challenges as they work toward their goals. Also, as a lifelong writer and reader, I cherish the opportunity to talk and teach about my favorite topic, the English language. My goal is always to help students build their confidence alongside their skills, as well as to make tutoring fun and interesting rather than a tiresome necessity.
I have my Master's degree in Writing, Rhetoric, & Discourse from DePaul University, with a concentration in Teaching Writing & Language and a certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
Thanks for taking the time to look through my profile. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you have about my education, experience, or approach to tutoring, or of course, to schedule a lesson! I can't wait to join you on your learning journey.
