Hello, I'm Irene! I graduated cum laude from the University of Washington with a triple major in Music Theory, Music Composition, and Viola Performance. I work as an artist in Seattle, WA. I have studied both art and music under a plethora of teachers and mentors. Throughout my studies, I was most inspired by teachers who encouraged and believed in me. Now I want to do the same!
One of my greatest pleasures has been working with students of all ages and backgrounds. I love seeing how everyones life experiences have brought them to both art and music.
In art, I have taught realistic drawing to children as young as 4.5. I have taught classes on observational drawing to both high schoolers and adults. I have worked with students in multiple medias including: charcoal, pencil, watercolor, gouache, acrylic, and oil. I design projects that students interesting and that will elevate their current skill-level.
I have been teaching music for over 6 years, and playing viola for over 10 years. I have experience working with beginner children, and have taught courses in the Suzuki method. Additionally, I have worked extensively with high school and middle school musicians in classroom settings as well as small focus groups/ensembles. I have also worked with adult beginners, and returning students.
Here's what Daisy, age 12, says about viola lessons:
"Music is fun and a great way to show creativity. I started out with a difficult time because it was hard to express myself with notes. But as I learn more techniques, I became comfortable playing and experiencing different types of music. It is very fun and let’s me explore many different things with you!"
Send me a message about scheduling a lesson time!
