Hi! I'm Mariel, and I've known I wanted to be a teacher since seventh grade, when my language arts teacher really believed in me and supported me in writing and editing a 50 page novella. Looking back, the novella was pretty terrible, but that experience helped me to learn how empowering it is to have just one person that believes in and supports you in your goals. Since seventh grade. I have not wavered in wanting to teach the humanities, and have been intentional about learning the nitty-gritty of grammar and syntax rules, bibliography formatting, and literary theory so that I could accurately convey all of it to my future students. I work as a full-time multi-subject teacher at a small 7-12 school in Vermont, and have previously worked as an ESL teacher.
