Tutoring challenges me to use my students knowledge and ability to connect information to guide them to teach themselves True learning, after all, lies in discovering for oneself.. Therefore, I favor putting the load on the student to work out the answers they need, although this often requires explaining the underpinnings of that knowledge, as in asking a learner how a balloon is different from a brick as a way to explain density. Finally, a good tutor builds confidence in students, and then enjoys watching them "grabbing" for information and understanding rather than waiting for it to be force-fed to them.
