I am Saudi, a native speaker of Arabic. I am Egyptian and love languages and teaching them, especially Arabic, as they are gates to know different cultures and new people. I am interested in reading, walking, and listening to music (mostly classic).
I got my Ph.D. in Arabic from the University of York, UK, in 2017. Added to this, I got a certificate in teaching Arabic as a foreign language from the Hedayet Institute for Arabic Studies (Cairo, Egypt), and the Cambridge CELTA certificate in teaching English to non-native speakers, both in 2017. I also got my MA in English and Translation Studies in 2007 and BA in English in 2002, both from Minia University, Egypt.
I am a tutor of Arabic with 10 years of experience. I taught Arabic to a large number of students with different backgrounds (English, Scottish, Russian, and Dutch, among others). I taught Standard/Formal Arabic and spoken Arabic (especially Egyptian Arabic) at the beginners, intermediate and advanced levels.
In teaching Arabic, I focus on my students' goals and adopt a teaching methodology that enables me to achieve their goals in the shortest time possible. In doing so, I mainly adopt the communicative approach by immersing the student in situations that are very similar to those in real life (depending on their goals). For example, in teaching a student aiming at working in a hotel, I focus on different reading texts (educational as well as authentic) from tourism brochures, tourism agencies' websites, hotels forms, etc. I could also use different listening and speaking exercises related to tourism (a receptionist receiving a call from a customer, a clip from a movie showing a housekeeping staff chatting with a customer, etc.) If there is no specific aim targeted, I depend on best-selling textbooks in addition to many exercises that I tailor to meet the student's needs and abilities.
