I think I missed my true calling in life. I should have been a high school history/social studies teacher.
I am an accountant (inactive CPA) with over 30 years of experience. I earned a BS degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting, and minored in Latin American Studies. I studied for an MBA focused on Accounting and Finance. I learned to speak Spanish fluently while serving as a missionary to Argentina over forty years ago. I also learned to speak French fluently when I spent a year working for Disney in Europe. I guess you could say I am ‘functionally illiterate’ in three languages.
I have taught youth and adult classes for over 30 years as well. I have taught many subjects from technical business topics, to how to start a business to new entrepreneurs. I have taught GED prep classes (9th grade level) to young and old. I have taught these topics in English and Spanish. I have been a private tutor, as well as a substitute math teacher for junior high students. I have even been a Sunday School teacher.
I am a history, current affairs, and economics buff, who wins every game of Trivial Pursuit (nobody will play me anymore) and I love to show off to impress my family and friends. I think I missed my calling in life. I should have been a high school history/social studies teacher.
I am a private tutor on any subject. However, I can also work with learning pods in small groups as well. Furthermore, I can teach classes in certain (some harder to find) topics that might help round out your child’s studies in the following areas:
Test Review Courses - GED, ACT, SAT
Spanish Language Studies - Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced, as well as conversation immersion pods.
College-level Business Courses (for high-school entrepreneurial studies) - Intro to Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Business Math, Intro to Management, Business Leadership Studies, Operations Management (Quantitative Methods), Organizational Management, Business Law
High School Math - Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II/Trigonometry
History - World History, American History, Current Affairs, Constitutional Studies, Economic Systems (i.e. Socialism vs Free Enterprise)
Here are some testimonials from some of my current students:
“My dad is a whiz at helping me figure out my math…”
Hanna, Age 14
“He has taught me to love American and world history. Mark explains it in a way that changes your perspective. He has helped me write an oratorio and more. I have learned many things from him, like basics in politics and business plus I'm still learning to this day.”
Isaac, Age 12
"Mark Beach is one of THE best teachers/tutors I have ever had. you might think I'm exaggerating since I am his daughter but I'm not (exaggerating, that is). The things he teaches and the way he teaches it, is so easy to remember and so hard to forget. He wrinkles out all the doubt in my work and studies. His ways are so clear. If I had to choose a teacher I would choose Mark."
Emma, Age 10
OK, OK, the only testimonials I could get (by offering bribes) was from my kids, but you get the idea.
