I'm a designer from Austin, TX with education from some of the most prestigious art schools in the United States and over 10 years of freelancing illustration and graphic design on the side.
More than anything else, your portfolio is what grants you opportunities in art and design. My goal is to help you curate your work in order to showcase your talents for maximum impact. I'm eager to use my skills and experience to help students create and refine their portfolios for entry into college and/or their first jobs in the design industry.
My background includes acceptance into over a dozen design programs out of high school with my final decision being to attend the School of Visual Arts in New York City where I studied graphic design for a short time (before running out of money to live in Manhatten). After saving up from small freelance gigs and odd jobs, I attended Austin Community College majoring in Studio Art for the purpose of gaining credit to transfer to California College of the Arts. While attending school there in San Francisco I majored in industrial design (which, for those unfamiliar, involves designing physical consumer products - kind of like architecture for everything not buildings). Due to the interdisciplinary nature of programs at CCA, I continued to develop my graphic design and user experience skills. Since returning to Austin I've continued my freelance business working with multiple brands and private art commissions.
"As a designer, building a portfolio is by far one of the most challenging tasks that you will ever encounter because there are no set rules. there is no right way or wrong way to build a portfolio, only your way.” -Shauna Haider, Creative Director
