About Gia

Meet Gia West.

She graduated from University of North Texas with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology. She is currently pursuing her master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, at Ball State University. She has always had the passion for helping and strengthening others, whether it is mentally or physically. She has accomplished many great things prior to being a Tutor. She has held the title as a Group Leader at the Boys and Girls Club of North Central Louisiana. Here she served as an Academic Mentor, helping youth improve in reading, math, and science. She has served as a Teacher's Aide, where she has implemented lesson plans, conducted recreational activities, and provided a fun and creative learning environment for children. She taught relevant skills and techniques while advising children about the importance of their health. She assisted with kids sports, health promotion and development. During this time as a Kids Fitness Coach, she noticed that there was a gap within the curriculum that did not cater to those with disabilities or developmental delays. She began to research and focus on ways to not only enhance but modify lesson plans so that EVERYONE can benefit from her service. No one was left behind. It was during this time that she discovered room for a new found passion...helping individuals with special needs. After working as a Kids' Fitness Coach, she obtained her certification as a Job Skills Coach and began to work with various children, teens, and adults who had a variety of disabilities ranging from Autism, ADHD, Aspergers Syndrome, Dyslexia, processing disorders and more. She loved helping students on their journey and setting them up for success! She later obtained her certification as a Registered Behavior Therapist. Following treatment and intervention plans, she collaborated with families, BCBAs, and other therapists to accurately collect behavior data to ensure acceptable replacement behaviors and successful, independent responses. Her experience and expertise has helped many individuals gain the confidence they need to independently succeed!
