Algebra 1 and Geometry tutor

My name is Cristian Joseph and I've been a Math, Science, and English tutor for over 6 years now. Education is supposed to be a pathway to success, but it has increasingly become an obstacle to many very capable students. My goal as a tutor is to help my students overcome every educational obstacle they come across. I accomplish this by making sure every tutoring session is productive and beneficial to my students. First, we set a goal that needs to be met by the end of the session. Ex: "This homework assignment needs to be completed." Second, we determine what subgoals need to be accomplished to achieve our goal. Ex: "I have to do problems 1 through 10." Finally, we figure out which subgoals are preventing the student from achieving their goal and then I help the student achieve the subgoals they are struggling with, and teach them how to make sure they aren't an issue in the future like on an exam. Ex: "I don't know how to do problems 9 and 10" so I would focus on teaching the student how to complete problems 9 and 10, and then give them some practice problems to make sure they truly understand the concepts.

The subjects I specialize in are Prealgebra, Algebra, Geometry, Biology, Physics, English, and Writing. From my own experience as a student and working with my students for 6+ years I understand the most common problems that prevent students from understanding concepts. I focus on fixing those subject-specific problems and this leads to academic progress.

My effectiveness as a tutor comes from having a system that ensures consistent and real results. I've developed this system through my experience as a student while getting my degree in Biotechnology, and my 6 years of tutoring students from elementary through college.
