My name is Stephen Gluckman. I am a Ph.D. candidate at Temple University in English, specializing in American literature. I have experience teaching in both literature and composition at the Middle School, HIghschool and College level.
My teaching philosophy is student-centered and stems from the belief that writing, reading, and analysis are the foundations of a healthy personal and public identity. As a teacher, I emphasize the value of genuine dialogue in everything we do, including in-class activities, assignments, and course texts. I try to teach my students that every part of their learning experience and by extension understanding of the world is made from a form of dialogue. I strive to find ways to create space for dialogue between text and experience to occur, leading my students towards new discoveries and connections.
I hope as a teacher, I create a classroom atmosphere that champions and produces this symbiotic relationship. I look forward to working with you!
