Teaching has always been a source of joy for me. During my career, I mentored numerous students in the microbiological techniques that we use in the laboratory. I never believed in rote memorization though. I often explained to students the fundamental principles behind these techniques. The same is true for history. It is not about dates but the concepts that drove people and events. My philosophy is to help students understand the fundamentals of the particular area they are studying. This approach will help you succeed in your studies, whether it is homework or preparing for a test.
