I am a doctoral psychology student with 5 years of experience. I have had over 20 clients and I am familiar with both mainstream education and specialized education (ADHD, autism, intellectually disability).

I have learned that there are two elements of a successful learning experience:

First, a student needs to master the material. This is accomplished through note taking, practicing, and working with an educator. Second, and more importantly, a student must become motivated in their learning to help push them beyond their limits. This is what I strive to cultivate with each student regardless of their ability.

As a developing clinical psychologist, my training focuses on bringing out the best in people. Therefore, my educational approach encourages my students to become independent, motivated, and explorative of the material. These skills last well beyond the tutoring relationship.

I assign homework and expect students to practice. Additionally, parents are expected to be active in the process to help maximize the tutoring benefits.
