As a literary person with a background in education, I'm well-versed in all of the Humanities subjects, and most principally my passions are tutoring in reading, writing, and literature.
Regarding my personal education, I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from Brandeis University, and a Master’s in English in Literature and Linguistics from the University of Antwerp. Additionally, I hold a TEFL certification (120 classroom hours), and am a creative writer, with published poems, and critical essays and reviews.
When it comes to illustrating my expertise with the English language and education, my experience includes serving as tutor and instructor for a busy San Francisco SAT tutoring academy, in a populous Asian neighborhood of the city; teaching younger learners English in Chinatown; and teaching gifted children literature at an afterschool program in Oakland, CA (while also designing the school's Humanities curriculum).
The range of academic and professional experience that I have accrued help to show how I have a knowledgeable and diverse range of skills (but most of which have to do with the English language in some capacity or other). Most recently, I functioned as main content editor for a popular online education company called Shmoop. As editor and copywriter for parties as diverse as universities, marketing CEOS, and artists—not to mention having served as clerk, administrative assistant, and public relations assistant in a range of office environments—I feel comfortable in both project-based and more structured capacities.
