My name is Victoria and I am an English teacher and published writer living in New York City. I graduated from Smith College with a B.A. in English Language and Literature in 2012, and now have five years of professional teaching experience: I completed a Fulbright fellowship as an English teaching assistant in Colombia, and have taught high school English and IB Literature for the past four years. I have experience teaching/tutoring English, IB literature and IB extended essay, ESL, SAT and ACT prep (English, reading, and writing sections), college/scholarship essay writing, and literacy intervention. I also tutor for the GRE verbal section, on which I scored a 160 (95th percentile). I look forward to working with you!
As a tutor, I enjoy getting to know students’ unique learning styles and goals in order to best support them in reaching their full academic potential. As a published writer, I also have a particular passion for helping students craft strong pieces of writing (personal statements, college and scholarship applications, academic papers and essays, etc.) that eloquently convey their strengths, experiences, and/or original ideas. As an 11th grade English Language Arts and IB Literature teacher, I have worked extensively with students on honing individual voice, employing appropriate register and style, and perfecting mechanics of language to ensure written assignments of the highest quality. I have also taught courses specifically on writing techniques and English grammar for students throughout NYC. I am passionate about helping others develop their unique writers’ voices and master the language skills they need to achieve their goals.
I look forward to working together!
