As a recent graduate from Binghamton University, I bring 5 years of experience from the university’s Systems Science and Industrial Engineering department, where I developed skills in leadership, programming, calculus, geometry, linear algebra, and systems engineering. I have also tutored students within the university ranging in ages from 18 to 25 who needed support with their courses. In my personal life, I tutored a learning disabled high school student who had initially failed Algebra and after my tutorage, ended up passing the New York State Regents at a score of 80. As someone who has both been a student and who has supported students, my philosophy for facilitating learning is that it is important for learners to realize what they are actually capable of, and even to develop some enthusiasm for their subject. For many students, this entails a revitalization of their self-concept when it comes to their relationship to the subject matter. With this in mind, I ensure that students always have time to practice the material on their own, with all my methods adjusted to each student's individual needs. I listen to what the student understands about the subject so that a more complete understanding can be achieved, all of this while cultivating confidence in the student for their growing skills.
I have 2 years’ experience tutoring both the SAT, NYS Math Regents, and college level Calculus. On a personal level, I have a passion for puzzles and games that require problem solving. I like to think that I have some skill in inspiring others to find their own interest in problem solving. Among my certifications, I am a green belt in the Lean Six Sigma certification, which is a certification in manufacturing, project management, and statistical data analysis. As a student, I participated in multiple case studies of corporate metrics using data analysis to determine viability of various products. As team leader for my group, I presented material which earned our research group recognition for strong teamwork as well as viable solutions to problems related to streaming complex data and statistics. I have been on the Dean’s list at Binghamton University on numerous occasions.
