I decided to become a tutor because of my passion for education and my desire to pass that knowledge on to others. During my time as an undergraduate, I assisted my peers with developing effective learning strategies to improve their understanding of various subject matter. I believe this is very important and helpful because everyone has a different method of learning and creating a learning strategy helps to accomplish an adequate understanding of the subject matter. I received a B.S. in Psychology with a concentration in Neuroscience from The Pennsylvania State University in August 2013. I am currently pursuing a Master's in Biology at Hofstra University.
My specialties include biology as well as Common Core math and ELA. I have been a tutor for over 5 years with pass rates of 99% and 100% for the Living Environment and Chemistry regents respectively. My typical tutoring session would consists of an in-depth subject review, practice questions to reinforce knowledge, and a homework assignment to ensure the student is retaining all learned information. My tutoring philosophy is to make learning fun; therefore, I try to incorporate student interests into the lessons. This method of tutoring is especially helpful for maintaining the attention of younger students.
I have a 10-hr cancellation policy on all sessions; however, I can be flexible and will allow make-up sessions.
I look forward to speaking with you and assisting you with all of your academic needs!
