Hi there, I have been a math tutor at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) for the past two years. I tutor students there in Arithmetic, Algebra, Precalculus, as well as Calculus I and Calculus II. I graduated from Hostos Community College as Salutatorian in 2016, and am now a Math Major at the City College of New York. I love helping students through the frustrations that many face when dealing with math and pride myself on doing so with patience, understanding, and empathy.
I have been tutoring all sorts of college students for over two years and have learned a lot from doing so. I have worked in the Borough of Manhattan Community College and Hostos Community College in their open math lab settings as well as alongside professors during in-class sessions at both institutions. Working in the open math labs I have developed the ability to interact well with people from all walks of life and can quickly adjust my teaching techniques to accommodate each student's temperament as well as possible. Working alongside professors during in-class sessions has helped me to better understand the structure of the courses I offer tutoring for; giving me the knowledge necessary to let students know why the things that they're learning are important, as well as why the material will be relevant to what they'll see in the future. I am very patient and believe that there is no such thing as a dumb question. I enjoy going in-depth when going over topics, giving a solid background of the necessary formulas, and helping students understand the reasoning behind using them.
I am always happy to interact with students who are wondering whether or not online tutoring is for them. I will respond as promptly as possible to any inquiry. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have and remember, there are no dumb questions, only efforts to gain understanding.
