I'm Francine! I received my Master of Science in Social Work with a Policy concentration from Columbia University, and I graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Social Work. Before moving to NYC, I lived in Charlotte, NC. I received a graduate certificate in Secondary Math Education from the University of North Carolina Charlotte and became a licensed Secondary Math teacher. My favorite part of teaching was watching students grow from day 1 to the end of the semester and seeing the students' faces when they figured out a tough problem. I also have 1.5 years of experience at a tutoring company where I tutored elementary math and reading, junior high and high school math, and ACT and SAT prep. I also worked with students with their homework preparing for tests in various subjects. I remember doing well in math but still disliking it when I was in school, so I figured some students might dislike the subject still today. I decided to teach math in the hopes of making it fun for my students. I taught two years of high school Common Core Math II, where my students learned how to graph quadratics through their favorite NBA basketball teams. My students learned geometry by creating 3-dimensional models of the school. As a tutor, I hope to continue making learning fun and applicable for students. I want to help the students I work with as much as possible, so I welcome any suggestions or requests by students or parents. I am quick to respond and flexible with days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a session!
