Hi, I'm Shannon! I am currently pursuing a chemistry major at the University of Nevada, Reno. I've enjoyed math and chemistry ever since high school and still do. So far, I have taken general chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, and a couple of other upper-level chem courses, and received A's. I have also enjoyed and excelled in math for most of my life. Specifically, I passed Calculus 1, 2, and 3 in college each with A's, but I enjoy and have done well in many classes from algebra to differential equations. If you’re wondering about the art minor—that’s my true passion!
Previously, I have tutored classmates in chemistry and still do, but I yearn to gain more experience. Out of those I have tutored, I have received positive feedback. While my intentions are not to enter the education field, I enjoy working with other young adults one-on-one. I love helping people with their chemistry or math needs, and hope to turn any frustration into relief, showing others that math and science isn't as complicated as they might think.
I believe, for the success of a student, that understanding is exponential more valuable than the ability to memorize. Even if it might take slightly longer, I am a proponent of the process of identifying and discussing mistakes before trying to fix them. Often times, I find that locating the source of a mistake and talking about it helps to solve similar problems in the future.
