Over my career in print and digital publishing, I have developed a deep skill-set which includes managing and mentoring creative staffs, working with editors, photo directors, illustrators, photographers, video animators and all other members of the edit team. My pillar strengths include the ability to recognize any given brands audience and translating that into an effective aesthetic by my usage of visual storytelling, typography along with illustration and photography combined with other elements that can effectively identify and reflect the given brand.
A few highlights from my previous jobs:
I recently was the principle design lead for a complete redesign of one of Wiley Communications' flagship publications.
As the Art Director for Haymarket Media, I was responsible for the overall design of PRWeek and MM&M
magazines, ebooks, along with their web banners and other assets.
I also commissioned all illustrations and photography for both publications and designed PR Week's 20th Anniversary logo and branding.
As the Publication Design Manager and Design Lead for G3 Communications, the digital assets
that I designed for my various B2B and B2C clients experienced an 18% increase in views over the previously designed assets.
As the designer/art director for The Gannett Design Studio at The Asbury Park Press I designed all of the A1 pages along with the News and Sports sections for various local papers.
I redesigned the entire FOB and BOB sections for Women’s Health magazine and designed and managed all of the feature well along with attending art meetings and brainstorming sessions.
While at Rolling Stone I designed numerous SIPs which often sold over 250,000 copies.
At the National Enquirer I was part of a major redesign which resulted in the highest circulation off of the newsstands for the brand in over five years.
As the creative force behind the 750,000-circulation consumer science magazine DISCOVER, I
created the visual branding of the company and its products. When the magazine was redesigned for its 30th Anniversary it resulted in a 13% increase in newsstand sales.
I use and apply all of my real-life professional experiences and share them with the students. All of my professional experience is essential as I create projects and offer critiques that will build and refine
the students portfolio and shape their design skillset in which can be used and translated into securing
a full-time job as the student refines their portfolio in preparation of securing their first job of their career.
I am an out-of-box-thinker and problem-solver and I will push you to get the most out of your creativity with real life assignments designed to refine your thinking, typography and design style.
