Hi
My name is Asia. I am a full time educator and a lover of the English vernacular. I have years of classroom experience teaching students’ techniques on how-to become better readers and writers. I have a bachelor’s degree in English and I hold a master’s degree in Literacy Instruction.
If I were to pinpoint when my love of reading began I would say in utero. My mother was a voracious reader and she bequeathed that love to me. I can recall some of my earliest interactions with literacy being my mother reading to me at bedtime. I have always loved to read and I am excited to share my love with others.
Literacy means so much to me because I believe it is a fundamental tool that opens up a world of opportunity. Words are beautiful and when they are fused together they can create some of the most brilliant pieces of art. Picture in your mind, the golden ticket Charlie Bucket (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) received which granted him access to the legendary and highly secretive world of the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory. I believe literacy is the golden ticket that opens doors, connects people, and keeps the world turning. Simply stated, literacy is the key to understanding everything.
I believe one of the best things someone who has learned something new should do, is to share it with others. So, in the spirit of continuity I want to share the knowledge I have acquired with people because learning and literacy need to be shared with the world.
