I have a bachelor of science in Biology. Currently, I am enrolled as an accelerated nursing student at Seton Hall University. I have been a tutor for 3 years and I specialize in subjects such as English and writing, science courses, basic math, and French. I also tutor a couple of nursing courses and Haitian Creole. Being a tutor has been one of the most exciting role for me. Tutoring gives me the chance to combine my passion for teaching and my love for helping others. I work with all age groups.
As a tutor, I enhance my students’ skills by listening to their perspectives and guiding them to strengthen their weakness. I understand that every student has a different learning style. Therefore, I like to create lesson plans and give studying tips that work best for my students. One helpful study tip for me is that I like to make "study guides." As an accelerated nursing student, I find it very helpful to make study guides. When making study guides, it allows me to pre-read the materials and I can refer back to the book and add extra notes that are important. When I am done with my guide, it becomes a review for me to follow along. I strongly encourage students to make study guides or flashcards instead of studying straight out of the Powerpoint slides. I have personally suggested to my fellow peers and tutees to make study guides or flashcards, and they have told me that their scores improved. My personal goal is to help you succeed, which means we will work as a team to help you have a better understanding.
