I have been teaching/tutoring for over 10 years. I started tutoring when I was at Appalachian State University where I tutored students in math, Psychology, Spanish, and graphic design programs. When I graduated, I continued to tutor part-time focusing mainly on math. I tutored students from 1st grade to seniors in high school in common core, elementary math, algebra 1, geometry, statistics, algebra 2, and pre-calculus. My high school students would ask for help preparing for the SAT or ACT, so I decided to start my own business with another tutor teaching SAT courses. On average after working with me on the SAT math section, the student's math points would go up by 100 points.
I moved to Ecuador in 2012 and I taught ESL to high school and adult learners. I taught English as a second language for Fulbright for 3 years before moving back to the States. I wanted to get my teaching degree, so I started substitute teaching in the Wake county school system. While I loved teaching, I decided that the school system was not where I needed to be. More recently, I've been teaching adults how to make better presentations for the past 2.5 years.
I love working with individuals who are struggling, and getting to that lightbulb moment. When the student finally gets it, and everything become clear, it's the most rewarding experience in the world.
