My name is Grace Reesman. I am a diligent and curious Physics and Mathematics undergraduate student. I currently have a GPA in my majors of 4.0 (on a 4.0 scale). I am also currently enrolled in an accelerated mathematics degree program that will allow me to obtain a Master’s degree two semesters after graduating with my Bachelor’s degrees. After completion of this, I will attend graduate school to obtain a Ph.D. in Physics. My career aspiration is to do research in theoretical physics, as it would allow me to combine my talents and interests and contribute to the body of knowledge in physics.
I currently hold two jobs at the university I attend. One of them is a mathematics and physics tutor. I have held this position for 1.5 years, and was promoted to lead tutor earlier this fall. My other job is a supplemental instruction leader for a calculus based physics course. Supplemental instruction is facilitated group learning. This job includes planning and executing sessions at least twice per week, attending lectures, collaborating with professors, and holding office hours. I have been a supplemental instruction leader for 1.5 years and was recently promoted to peer mentor, meaning I assist other supplemental instruction leaders in becoming the best they can be. I also participate in physics research and have a published paper.
