About Jana

Looking for an experienced, results-oriented Test Prep Tutor? You've come to the right place! With nationwide recognition as a top tutor, a master's degree (3.94 GPA), and over 22 years of tutoring experience, I am able and eager to help you with your learning needs.

TEST PREP:
You want to feel well-prepared and confident come test day. To help you get there, we will develop an individualized plan based on your previous test results, goal score, unique challenges, and personal strengths.

During our sessions, we will work on content knowledge, subject-specific strategies, anxiety reduction, error analysis, and essay-writing techniques to maximize your test score. My test prep students have earned point increases that have paved the way to top choice schools, college scholarships, and a major boost in self-confidence.

PROOFREADING/EDITING BY EMAIL:
Need a paper proofread and edited? No need for in-person sessions -- just send me your draft, I'll send you a quote, and we'll get it done!

HOMEWORK/SPECIAL TOPICS:
Perhaps you struggle in a class, need to improve your study skills, or want to prepare for a standardized test. In addition to test prep, I've helped 100s of students with college application prep, admissions essays, career development, computer orientation, nursing studies, resume' writing, study skills, and homework needs. I'm always up for a new challenge!

K-8 TUTORING:
Through observation and discussion, we'll get to the root of your knowledge gaps, pacing issues, and study challenges. As needed, a skills/proficiency assessment will help me design a custom tutoring program for you.

CORPORATE/STUDENT TRAINING:
Do you have employees or students who could use specialized training, e.g. test prep, business writing, English language proficiency? I offer flexible scheduling to fit your needs and will come to your metro location for group or individual sessions. I currently work with metro area universities to facilitate MTLE-NES large group test prep sessions for non-native test-takers and anyone else needing support. Ask me about these free sessions!

SCHEDULING:
Tutoring sessions are typically 2 hours for test prep, 1-2 hours for preK-12 and other subjects, and customizable to fit your needs. We meet in a Bloomington/Richfield/Savage coffee shop or community college (or online for non-metro/out-of-state students). For preK-5/senior-aged students, we can meet in the student's home within 5 minutes of downtown Savage.

TESTIMONIALS:
Jan 2018 —
I have been accepted at each school I have heard back from so far!! I have chosen to accept an offer to the Occupational Therapy Doctoral program at the Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis. When I went for my visit, one of the faculty commented on how much they had loved my personal essay. :) Again, thank you so much for all of the help with my essay questions. I can't wait to to take these next steps forward towards becoming an OT.
Katie, OT doctoral candidate (OTD admissions essays)

Thank you a million times over Jana! We were so happy for [our son] when we ... saw he had improved so much in each area ... I know that getting that high score was such a confidence booster for him! ... I am so thankful I found your profile on Wyzant and took the chance that it was money well spent. I can not say enough about how you have helped him! ... Thanks again for everything!"
