As a student of electrical engineering at the University of Michigan I will lead the next generation of research to understand biology better using cutting-edge technology developed by an electrical engineer. While finishing my bachelor’s degree I am working as a student research assistant at miRcore, a not for profit organization which has the vision to create a global multilateral chain which treats individuals based on their unique genetic profile. This experience has given me a strong foundation in understanding the use of new biotechnologies and working alongside teammates to lead research in genetic problems such as, Alzheimer’s, autism and depression.
During my experience working with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, I lead research to understand the natural weather systems and negative human contributions which lead to the formation of Hurricane Sandy. As student researcher at NOAA and miRcore, I have led teams to identify and solve major problems of necessity, and as an Intern at the New York County District Attorney’s Office I spearheaded programs to decrease the levels of opioid abuse in New York City.
