I have a Bachelor's degree in international relations and Chinese language & culture from Washington University in St. Louis and have 2 years of experience tutoring and teaching students ranging from pre-k through high school. I have spent two summers teaching classes on ethics and criminal justice for Exploration Programs at Yale University. In addition to teaching over the summer, I also taught English to English Language Learners at City Arts and Prep Charter School in Washington, DC. In this role, I specifically worked one on one with elementary and middle school students to help them with any school subjects that challenged them, most often English and math. In addition to these subjects, I also specialize in assistance with writing, foreign languages, and exam prep.
As a teacher and tutor, I understand how to identify the appropriate learning style of each student I work with and subsequently provide the type of instruction that best supports my students' abilities to learn and improve. To that end, I strongly believe that learning should be fun and engaging, so I tailor my instruction so that my students can be engaged and happy to learn. My ultimate aim is to help my students succeed and meet all of their learning goals, whether that is assisting with difficult homework problems, or making sure my students are as prepared as they need to be for tests, exams, or essays.
